Andrew Gallatin is an experienced Software Engineer 7 currently working at Netflix, where he is responsible for improving the performance of the FreeBSD kernel used by the Netflix Open Connect CDN. With over 27 years of relevant experience, he has made significant contributions to the field of software engineering. Prior to joining Netflix, Andrew worked at Google as a Staff Software Engineer in the platforms & networking division. He worked on network performance and network device drivers and firmware, and was promoted from Senior SWE to Staff SWE in the spring 2015 promo cycle. He was also a Software Product Architect at Myricom, where he was the leader of the company's 10 Gigabit ethernet device driver department. Andrew was the sole maintainer of Myricom's Linux and Unix 10GbE device drivers and participated in the specification, design, and verification of new NICs. He wrote and maintained 10GbE drivers for Linux, Mac OS X, FreeBSD, and VMWare ESX. Andrew holds a Master of Science (M.S.) in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science from the University at Buffalo.
