Andrew Haines is a highly experienced full-stack software developer with a passion for building user-centric software solutions. With over 16 years of relevant experience, Andrew has worked with numerous clients in the retail and financial services industries, delivering robust and reliable technical solutions. Currently, Andrew is a Senior Software Engineer at Cerbos, where he continues to hone his skills in developing user-centric software. Previously, he worked as a Principal Software Engineer at Zencargo, where he played a pivotal role in migrating their main application from Elastic Beanstalk to Kubernetes, reducing deployment time from 30 minutes to just 2 minutes. He also implemented Open Policy Agent for authorization in microservices and migrated their GraphQL API to Apollo Federation. Andrew has also worked as a Tech Lead at Red Badger, where he led the development of several high-profile projects, including an international payments app for a multinational bank and an ecommerce site for Fortnum & Mason. He played a key role in redesigning the payment processing queue to improve reliability, performance, and observability, and also migrated infrastructure management from Ansible to Terraform. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Otago, which he completed in 2008. He also attended Taieri College from 2000 to 2004.
