Andrew HunzekerHesed is a Principal Software Engineer with over 15 years of relevant experience in the field. He is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Major League Baseball. Prior to this, he has worked at Hatched Labs Inc. as a Principal Software Engineer and at Pacific Gas and Electric Company as a Software Engineer Technical Lead. At Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Andrew was tasked with bringing a startup mindset to a large utility. He formed and led the Inspect team, which is an enterprise-wide asset management system for large utilities. He was responsible for application architecture and integrations with multiple systems, including SAP and GIS. He used computer vision to support field workers in gathering asset information, and the Inspect team is responsible for saving millions of dollars while increasing safety and maintaining compliance. Andrew also worked deeply with the Prototypes R&D team to bring machine learning and computer vision to the enterprise. He helped create a pipeline for CV model creation that exported CoreML models for offline mobile use. Andrew also developed a framework for using YOLO Object Detection models pre-iOS 12 and shipped an object detection model and OCR product for the Inspect team. Andrew has created an extensible framework for creating forms on a mobile device that consumed a common API. He ran the framework as an open-source project within PGE and managed feature requests, pull requests, and code reviews from across the many teams that consumed the framework. He also led the Pioneers team in creating the mobile app for the enterprise Corrective Action Program and an application for recording compliance documentation. Andrew has created the Technical Leadership Community of Practice that shared best practices and technical innovations. Andrew has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre/English Creative Writing from Truman State University. He has expertise in software engineering, object detection, computer vision, mobile, object detection, senior software engineering, ML, and iOS.
