Andrew Kang is a software engineer at Dovenmuehle Mortgage, Inc. with over 12 years of relevant experience. He has a unique background in film and business, which allows him to approach software engineering with a creative and strategic mindset. Andrew is a results-driven engineer who thrives on turning ideas into reality and simplifying complex processes. Andrew enjoys both the macro and micro aspects of building applications and is committed to producing clean, modular, and scalable applications. He is proficient in a variety of technologies, including NodeJS, Javascript, Cassandra, and microservices. Additionally, he has experience with CI/CD and has a passion for continuous improvement. Andrew has worked on several notable projects throughout his career, including LearnLive, a livestream education platform, and Order of Maesters, a microservice for a video-streaming app. LearnLive was developed during Reactathon 2018 and was awarded 3rd place. Andrew implemented a modular component with React and TokBox's OpenTok to provide a livestream classroom and designed a lightweight component switch for quick page navigation. Order of Maesters was a modular events microservice developed in Node.js and Cassandra to log and aggregate user events data. Andrew designed strategies in Cassandra to aggregate data at the time of entry to reduce read response time from six 180ms operations to a single query of 30ms. He also modularized and separated internal processes in Koa and Node.js for independent horizontal scaling per process. Andrew is a graduate of the Advanced Software Engineering Immersive program at Hack Reactor. He is always looking for new challenges and opportunities to grow as a software engineer.
