Andrew Kener is a seasoned DevOps Engineer with over 5 years of experience in general system administration on Unix/Linux servers, with a focus on web-based services and technologies. He has primarily worked with Red Hat but has also worked with several other distributions. Andrew has a passion for technology and has been able to turn it into a successful career. He has several personal projects under his belt, including a VSphere 4 cluster, a 9 TB SAN for home networked storage, and several monitoring systems (mostly Nagios). Currently, Andrew is working as a DevOps Engineer for The Weather Company, an IBM business, in the greater Atlanta area. He is responsible for delivering fast, scalable, and fault-tolerant services, developing ways to get products into production quicker, planning for disaster recovery and capacity growth, providing monitoring and alerting, and developing repeatable solutions to build out environments. In the past, Andrew has worked as a Senior DevOps Engineer for Atlanticus, where he moved and maintained legacy infrastructure into AWS. He has also worked as a Systems Engineer for ControlScan, where he managed the infrastructure for a PCI DSS compliant token-based hosted payment system that processed over 400,000 financial transactions on a monthly basis. Andrew has orchestrated the migration of Production and Sandbox (UAT) environments from a shared, virtualized environment to physical hardware, automated QA deployment process for several active codebases, deployed Puppet for use in provisioning and/or resetting QA environments, implemented a Nagios box to monitor each environment accordingly, and created a disaster recovery site for main application failover. Andrew holds a degree in Computer Science from Southern Polytechnic State University and has completed a Dale Carnegie Course. He has also self-taught himself and has a degree in Andrew's Interests.
