Andrew Kuo is a passionate software engineer with a love for video games, creative writing, cinematography, music, and D&D. He believes that great software puts humans first, and as a software development engineer at Amazon, he is committed to collaborating and picking apart complex systems to solve human problems. Andrew's experience includes leading a team at UCSD to research and develop a modern and accessible progressive web app tool that helps students experiment, solve, and play with complex state machines and automata. He also made a 3D game engine in Java and OpenGL from scratch to understand how they work and continued this tradition into JavaScript and WebGL. Andrew's previous experience includes working as a summer research intern and team lead at UCSD, where he led a team to design and develop a PWA that helped over 400 students for the class CSE 105 - Theory of Computation for the next quarter and many more after. Through this process, he was able to experiment and practice not only UX design but also Agile development and general collaboration techniques, such as team code reviews and continuous integration. Andrew has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego, and a degree in Computer Science from Pasadena City College. He also attended Troy High School. Andrew has a strong technical background in software engineering, Javascript, research science, web development, Java, NodeJS, CI/CD, and design. With 3.53 years of relevant experience, Andrew is a skilled and dedicated software engineer committed to creating software that is both user-friendly and maintainable.
