Andrew Locke is a Senior Software Engineer and a social justice advocate committed to addressing inequity. He is currently working on The "Senior" Junior Engineer Podcast, where he shares his passion for problem-solving, leadership, and mentoring. Andrew believes that the opportunity gap in education is the most pressing social justice issue of our time, and he is driven to impact systemic inequities as an agent for change and an advocate for justice. Andrew has worked as a Full Stack Software Engineer and a Software Engineer at Apostrophe, where he was responsible for supporting all things technical, making strategic decisions, and implementing solutions to have the biggest impact possible. He has experience in building vertically integrated healthcare platforms that combine online/mobile consults with medications that are delivered directly to patients. Andrew is skilled in building robust applications in collaboration with a diverse group of engineers and designers to ship clean, maintainable, and tested code daily via rapid feedback and iteration cycles. Andrew has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology from the University of Kansas and a Full Stack Web Development Certificate from DevPoint Labs at the University of Utah. He is proficient in Software Engineering, AWS, Integration, Frontend, Redux, Backend, Python, Django, MongoDB, Mobile, and infra. Andrew is passionate about contributing to and facilitating conversations centered around equity and access. He strives to support the growth and development of future leaders, creatives, and problem solvers entering the programming world.
