Andrew Maclean is a skilled software engineer with over 7 years of experience in the field. Currently working at PayPal, Andrew is passionate about making things easier for people, although he admits that sometimes he makes things worse. Before joining PayPal, Andrew co-founded ToolBox, an application designed to help machine shops increase their production. Using a MERN stack, ToolBox is entirely JavaScript-based, which optimizes developer consistency and application runtime. To handle microservices and load balancing across webservers, Nginx is used, while Redis is used for data caching when required. Andrew has also implemented Docker images to optimize environment efficiencies and take advantage of ECS deployment. In addition to his work at ToolBox and PayPal, Andrew worked as a Ski Snowboard Instructor at Alterra Mountain Company. He is a graduate of California State University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, and Orange Coast College, where he earned an Associate's degree in Computer Science. Andrew's technical expertise includes frontend development, software engineering, JavaScript, NodeJS, and Python.
