He is currently working as a Senior Data Engineer at Parsyl, where he specializes in data ingestion, processing, and analytics using tools like Flink, Spark, Kafka, and a variety of SQL and NoSQL systems. Andrew is well-versed in distributed systems and cloud orchestration, and he strongly believes in the future of Kubernetes as the de facto platform for stateful data workloads. Andrew has worked on various backend systems, UIs, ETL pipelines, and DevOps tooling, but he has found that every product is only as good as its data. Andrew is always eager to try out any new database, stream processing framework, and the like, but what really gets him excited is SQL databases. He is a strong believer in the power of 40-year-old technology and has even developed a distributed, in-memory HTAP database written in Rust as his primary side project. Andrew has previously worked as a Software Engineer at Deref, where he was involved in both internal platform and customer-facing applications, including a custom triplestore/graph database, a development environment orchestrator, and various microservices.
