Andrew Ngai is a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) with a passion for functional programming and a relentless desire to learn. He believes that software engineering offers the freedom and creative control to build anything from scratch, and he is grateful for the opportunities he has had to collaborate with some of the smartest minds in America to create elegant programs that will shape society for the better. Andrew's specialties include Scala, Typescript, Node, and GraphQL, and he is well-versed in serverless technologies such as DynamoDB, RDS, Lambda, SQS, and SNS. He is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Good Money, where he is responsible for developing and maintaining scalable backend systems. Prior to his current role, Andrew worked as a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) at Acorns, where he was responsible for building scalable GraphQL APIs and event-driven architectures using serverless technologies. He also worked as a Software Engineer (Full-Stack) at Acorns, where he worked with React, Apollo, and GraphQL to deliver full-stack web solutions and implemented asynchronous communication solutions using AWS Lambda, Kinesis, and SQS. Andrew holds a Master of Arts degree in Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Aquatic Biology/Limnology from the same institution. He also studied Marine Biology and Biological Oceanography at UCSC. Andrew's tech stack includes Software Engineering, Backend Development, Typescript, Scala, AWS, and Web Development.
