Andrew Shiau is a highly skilled Frontend Engineer with over 4 years of experience in designing and building digital products. He is currently working as a Frontend Engineer II at Amazon, where he is responsible for full-stack engineering, design, and usability testing of Composer, internal software that enables the hands-free design of over 50,000 marketing images per year for placement across worldwide Amazon properties. In his three years at Amazon, Andrew has contributed significantly to the development of Brand Builder, a system that automatically creates branded templates without code. He has also created Luthier, a no-code visual editor that makes new Composer templates without developer effort. Andrew has increased developer velocity by converting rendering engine from Canvas to HTML, making it 5x faster to create a new template. Andrew has also worked at Microsoft as a UX Engineer and has prototyped the next generation of Microsoft Word & Powerpoint experiences with code. He has collaborated with Design, Project Management, and Engineering on shared components with over 100 million users.
