Andrew Weyers is an experienced software developer with over 15 years of relevant experience. He is currently working as a software developer at booking.com, where he is focusing on enabling and running experiments to find better ways of measuring the effects of various initiatives in the marketing/customer insights area. He has past experience with online marketing APIs (AdWords, etc.) and reservation APIs, which has come in handy in his current role. Andrew's technical implementations were done as Java/Perl services over Cassandra/MySQL. Analysis performed mostly using Python/Spark on Hadoop. He has also contributed to the development of some Google Cloud/BigQuery projects. Although most of his previous experience has been at companies in a smaller phase of development, he has adapted well to Booking.com's way and has already seen excellent growth opportunities. Before joining Booking.com, Andrew worked as a Senior Software Engineer at ACI Worldwide, where he gained experience in Java, Python, Delphi 5 & 7, and payments standards (PCI, PCI-PADSS, ISO8583, BASE24), among others. He was a subject matter expert within the company on Postilion Forex solutions and worked on most core products due to being dropped into assist other teams on projects. He was also the technical lead on a high impact project to uplift card/transaction processing capabilities in a major hotel chain in Canada. Andrew has also worked as a Senior Java Developer at Clicks2Customers, where he got more involved in the business requirements of users than before and got a lot more exposure to the business focus and operational requirements. The focus technology-wise was Java SE/EE over various database servers (MySQL, IBM DB2, PostgreSQL) and APIs (Search engine marketing related, and others like Spring and Hibernate, etc). Andrew holds a degree in Computer Science and Psychology from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika and a diploma in Computer Programming from CTI. His tech stack includes software engineering, Java, MySQL, Spark, SQL, Python, Cassandra, Hadoop, parts-of-speech, Jenkins, Spring, search, and web.
