Andrew Williams is a Platform Engineering Manager at ProdPerfect, where he leads the Platform Engineering team in guiding new feature development and various platform-focused initiatives. His general focus is on building out the ProdPerfect Mission Control platform as well as their internal platform, both used to centralize the overall product and day-to-day interactions. Andrew's accomplishments include leading a quarter-long cross-departmental engineering initiative of five people tasked with designing and building a new set of tools to improve the rate and quality of new tests being built. Currently, over 97% of new tests written at ProdPerfect use this toolset. He also designed and built out the infrastructure for storing and retrieving user-specific application settings outside of their auth provider in company-owned DynamoDB tables, ensuring they can continue to create robust user-centric experiences without allowing themselves to become tied down to any external parties. Andrew has built out the Platform team's terraform and serverless infrastructure, including everything involved in versioning and deploying. This framework has allowed the team to spin up new AWS infrastructure predictably and quickly, cutting down on the time needed to deploy new features while empowering teammates to create infrastructure on their own. He has also designed a system for sending out on-demand and scheduled emails through Mailchimp Transactional Mail. Andrew's technology stack includes React, React Router, Redux, Express, Node, Prisma, Postgres, Jest, Enzyme, Elastic Beanstalk, API Gateway, Lambda, S3, RDS, SQS, SES, SNS, EventBridge, Terraform, Dynamo DB, Secrets Manager, Serverless Framework, among others. Andrew has worked at ProdPerfect in various roles, including as a Platform Team Lead and Senior Software Engineer. As a member of the Platform team at ProdPerfect, his role was to help build out all customer-facing portions of the company, including the platform-backed infrastructure created and maintained via terraform. He worked primarily with Node, Bash, Lambda-based microservices, Elastic Beanstalk, API Gateway, RDS, and S3. Andrew's accomplishments include setting up the Platform team's Terragrunt/Terraform repos for deploying new Platform infrastructure, enabling the team to easily spin up and deploy AWS infrastructure for new projects with minimal effort. He also designed and built a custom PagerDuty integration for incident management across all customer test suites, including associated Terraform infrastructure to manage all PagerDuty configurations.
