Andrés Arrieta is a seasoned technology professional with over 13 years of relevant experience in the industry. He is currently the Director of Consumer Privacy Engineering at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, where he oversees several consumer privacy projects and the Threat Lab (Cybersecurity). His responsibilities include managing projects such as Privacy Badger, HTTPS Everywhere, Panopticlick, and DNT (Do Not Track), as well as ensuring compliance with GDPR/CCPA regulations. He also focuses on competition/antitrust, fingerprinting, online tracking, and protecting vulnerable populations. Prior to his current role, Andrés worked as the Technology Projects Manager at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, where he managed parts of the Technology Projects, including Privacy Badger, HTTPS Everywhere, and Panopticlick. He also trained judges on technology and how civil liberties impact its infrastructure, and worked on smartphone and telco forensics. Andrés is also a co-founder and CTO of Halisi, a company that aims to combat counterfeit medicines by linking every medicine to a unique code in the blockchain that gets burnt on sale. This allows patients to verify when the medicine was sold and detect any abnormalities in the supply chain. Andrés holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies from IE Business School. He is skilled in infrastructure, blockchain, and senior software engineering.
