Anees Q. is an experienced leader in the fields of Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, and Cloud Engineering. With over 16 years of relevant experience, he has a demonstrated history of building and leading globally distributed teams in these areas. Anees is well-versed in planning, staffing, budgeting, and managing expense priorities, and has the ability to direct and control cloud/on-prem infrastructure functions across various groups/verticals. He has a strong understanding of the industry best practices for infrastructure engineering management and engineering organizational development. Anees has strong consensus-building and communication skills, and a proven track record of successfully launching web-scale apps and services. He is also a mentor and coach for high performing individuals and creates a diverse and inclusive team culture. Currently, he is working as a Senior Software Engineering Manager at Twilio, where he is working on data engineering and observability challenges. In his previous role as a DevOps/SRE Manager at VMware, Anees led a high-performing engineering team that delivered greenfield and brownfield containerized microservices on a custom Kubernetes platform based on AWS for VMware Carbon Black (CB). He was responsible for day 0, day 1, and day 2 activities for 40+ microservices for the CB product. Anees also partnered with engineering teams, product managers, and program managers to deliver new capabilities/services for the CB product and their observability by providing metrics-driven dashboard based on Wavefront Proxy and Logz.io. Prior to VMware, Anees worked as a Director at Mastercard, where he led global teams comprising of internal engineers, contractors, and vendors working on platform/DevOps/site reliability engineering functions. He piloted the implementation of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and DevOps transformation in Mastercard India Tech-Hub and partnered with cross-function peers and leaders to define, plan, and deliver DevOps vision, strategy, roadmaps, and proof of concepts for on-prem and cloud (Azure) services. Anees holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Analytics from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from RGPV. He has expertise in SRE, Senior Software Engineering, DevOps, Integration, Infra, AWS, Microservices, Data Engineering, Web, Kubernetes, Golang, Jenkins, and Azure.
