Ankita Modi is a highly motivated and skilled M.Tech final year student in Clinical Engineering at IIT Madras. She has also pursued her education at prestigious institutions such as CMC Vellore and SCTIMST Trivandrum. Currently, Ankita is working as a Research Intern at the Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (DBT-Instem). Ankita's current research focuses on the development of lipid nanoparticle-enabled CRISPR/Cas9 mediated Factor IX knock-out hepatic cell lines. She is involved in the development of novel lipid nanoparticles, their characterization, and evaluation of their transfection efficiencies. Ankita is using these lipid nanoparticles to edit the Factor IX gene in HepG2 cell lines and evaluating the editing efficiency. She is also doing a clonal selection for Factor IX deficient cell lines. The primary application of her work is to provide a cell line for developing nucleic acid-based therapeutics for hemophilia B. Ankita has previously worked as a Teaching Assistant at NPTEL and as an Associate Software Engineer at DXC Technology. Through these experiences, she has developed a range of skills, including research, software engineering, and teaching. Ankita has a strong academic background in Biomedical/Medical Engineering, and she is constantly seeking new challenges and opportunities to learn.
