Ankith Gunapal is a seasoned Deep Learning Engineer with over 10 years of experience in software and hardware engineering. He is currently serving as a Staff Computer Vision Engineer at LG Electronics, where he is responsible for developing cutting-edge computer vision solutions. Ankith has previously worked as a Principal Systems Engineer in ML/AI at Aricent, where he was involved in developing smart video analytics solutions for object detection and instance segmentation. He also worked on AI on edge devices, specifically on the inference of convolutional neural nets on edge devices. During his tenure at Cisco as a Software Engineer, Ankith was responsible for Layer 2 Forwarding in Cisco's DataCenter Switches Nexus 7000 & Nexus 9000. He has extensive experience in custom and Merchant Asic and has worked with Docker, Javascript-based UI, and machine learning to improve the serviceability of switches. Ankith has collaborated with multiple teams to solve system-level scale-convergence and performance issues. He has also implemented a Container Telemetry Application using Docker, Contiv & Kibana (ELK). Ankith holds a Master of Information and Data Science from the University of California, Berkeley. He also has a Master's degree in Telecommunications from the University of Maryland. Ankith has a strong technical background and is proficient in various technologies such as Computer Vision, Deep Learning, AI, Object Detection, ML, AWS, Data Scientist, Random Forest, n-grams, language models, NLP, Spark, Scikit, Big Data, Javascript, and Neural Networks.
