Anna Nyulund is a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer with over 5 years of relevant experience in the field. She is currently working as a volunteer Machine Learning Engineer (Computer Vision) at skyhub.org, where she is working on anomaly detection and an interesting image classification problem of weather balloons, flares, sky lanterns, planes flying in formation, secret military aircraft, birds reflecting the sun, planes reflecting the sun, blimps, helicopters, the planet Venus or Mars, meteors, or meteorites, space junk, satellites, sundogs, ball lightning, ice crystals, reflected light off clouds, lights on the ground or lights reflected on a cockpit window, and more. Anna is also the founder and Chief Data Scientist of Sakura AI, a consulting company that provides part-time consulting services in the areas of Data Analytics, Data Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Server maintenance projects. She is passionate about building and using machine learning algorithms in an environmentally conscious, ethical, and humane way while reducing company costs. Anna's practices include removing redundant columns in the databases, optimizing the databases, coming up with a hypothesis before throwing algorithms at the data, getting rid of unnecessary data and stop data hoarding, thinking about how the data models that she is building affect people's lives, optimizing her algorithms and package use to use minimal resources, building a framework instead of just building a solution, and debiasing algorithms. Anna holds a Post Graduate Program in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Texas at Austin, a Data Structures degree from the University of Washington, and a Master of Science (MS) in Engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She also has a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and an Associate's degree in Engineering from Austin Community College. Anna is highly skilled in ML, Computer Vision, AI, Data Scientist, NLP, PHP, Web, and Research Scientist. She is deeply committed to diversifying and fostering inclusiveness in the workplace, promoting underrepresented women in the tech industry, and bridging our differences.
