Annamalai Lakshmann is a Senior Product Designer at Razorpay with a passion for thoughtfully crafted products that can transform people's lives and companies for the better. With over 4 years of relevant experience in product design, he has worked with companies like Katerra, a SoftBank-backed Silicon Valley tech company that is redefining the multi-trillion dollar construction industry. At Katerra, Annamalai led design initiatives across the company's product portfolio with a focus on the Apollo suite. He conducted extensive user research and engaged with potential and existing customers to translate client business requirements and user needs into functional design specifications. He identified problems and opportunities using frequent stakeholder talks, user research, and end-user feedback, adopting a lean UX approach to conceive, iterate, and validate design solutions for the Apollo Suite. Annamalai overhauled the UX, IA, and UI for the Apollo suite on Web, iOS, and Android, breaking down complex task flows into simpler ones. He built a simple construction drawings management tool for clients within 8 months, enabling Katerra to onboard its first customers even before the product launch. He also managed the day-to-day work of the product design team, educated and onboarded designers onto the design language system for the Apollo suite, and conducted interviews and portfolio reviews for dozens of design candidates for hire. Annamalai has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science from Anna University and a CORe (Credential of Readiness) in Business Fundamentals from Harvard Business School Online. He also has a background in Research Science and is skilled in Android, iOS, UI, and Web design.
