Anshu Prateek is a seasoned DevOps professional with over a decade of experience in systems engineering, tooling, automation, scaling, feature & capacity planning, release, site up, monitoring & measurement, on-call, and other relevant technical and management experience. Currently, he serves as the Head of Engineering at Grab, where he heads the SRE and engineering infrastructure (systems) operations for Grab Financial Group across SE Asia on AWS, Azure, GCP, AzureStack, and bare metal servers. Being the first member of the team and one of the first few engineering hires in Bangalore, he worked on a greenfield project to establish engineering best practices using containers, cloud-agnostic stacks, IAAC, and CI/CD. He grew the SRE team to 10 while helping to grow the engineering team to 200. He enabled and empowered engineering teams to own components end-to-end in production while leading the SRE teams to provide self-serve platforms. Reporting to the CTO, he did the end-to-end setup of new infrastructure in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. He worked with various stakeholders to satisfy geolocation requirements related to data and privacy for three countries so far, with more in the pipeline. He did DataCenter evaluations, cost negotiations, and vendor management to deliver projects on time to meet audit and compliance requirements. He ensured all operational tools and services follow the same engineering practices as app micro-services, being written in Go, built, and deployed using the same pipelines. Before joining Grab, Anshu worked as a Senior Engineering Manager, SRE at Freecharge, where he worked on the core wallet product and was responsible for its uptime and performance. He led the SRE team, which was responsible for all uptime and improvement of all the products and services. He did the migration from the data center to AWS MUM region after the new region was launched with zero downtime experience. He also worked as a Manager, DevOps at Jio, where he worked on automation and tooling efforts for openstack based public cloud infrastructure. He worked on a Puppet-based CI/CD system, added various features, and resolved problems. He architected the rolling upgrade setup and worked on setting up the monitoring system using consul and nagios.
