Anshul Gupta is an accomplished Research Scientist and Software Engineer, currently serving as a Senior Software Engineer (Research) at Samsung. With a keen interest in Image & Signal Processing, AI & Machine Learning, and Computer Vision, Anshul has made significant contributions to the development of several commercialized conv-nets on Samsung Galaxy devices. During his tenure at Samsung, Anshul has implemented various DNN architectures, datasets, and training processes that have resulted in improved segmentation quality, good inference time, and better DxOMark bokeh scores for Samsung's smartphones. He has also trained preview & capture segmentation DNNs for the Front-camera 'Live Focus' mode of the Galaxy S20 line of smartphones, and improved the capture DNN accuracy further for the Note 20 line of smartphones. Anshul has also implemented the initial dataset and training pipeline for humans + pets instance segmentation for the Galaxy S21's front camera Portrait mode, which was termed 'the most improved, most accurate portrait mode' by Marques Brownlee (MKBHD). Prior to joining Samsung, Anshul worked as a Software Development Intern (Data Team) at InMobi, where he successfully integrated Apache Spark with Apache Lens on a YARN cluster, leading to faster execution of Lens queries on a YARN cluster. He also committed a Weighted Driver Selector to Apache Lens for the purpose of distributing jobs in a fixed ratio between multiple drivers. Anshul has also worked as a Marketing and Creative Team Member at Intugine Technologies, where he figured out possible collaborations, conducted demo installations of products, and managed Facebook and Twitter pages of the company. Anshul holds a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Anshul's tech stack includes AI, Spark, Mobile, Computer Vision, SQL, test, ML, Web, and Apache Hive.
