Anuj Bhansali is a seasoned professional with over a decade of experience in the anti-fraud/fincrime domain. He is currently the Head of Trust & Safety at PhonePe, where he oversees areas related to trust, identity, safety, and security. Anuj is responsible for building scalable systems and fraud detection platforms to reduce customer risk and secure millions of users doing a billion+ transactions. Before joining PhonePe, Anuj worked at Flipkart as a Product Manager for Trust and Safety, where he helped build products to detect and solve issues related to e-commerce such as fake reviews, returns fraud, and seller frauds. Anuj likes to tackle problems by building from first principles and is a hands-on person who loves working with people and building teams from the ground up. As the Head of Trust & Safety at PhonePe, Anuj is responsible for keeping 250 million users and 17 million merchants safe on the platform. He owns the end-to-end Core Risk Charter for the organization, comprising AML/STR Regulatory Risk, Fraud Risk-Transaction Risk Scoring, Merchant Risk/Customer Risk, Application Security, Operational Process Risk, and Identity Risk. Anuj has a strong educational background, having completed his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and his PGDIM in Management from the National Institute of Industrial Engineering. He has also developed expertise in product management, machine learning, and infra systems. Anuj's past experience includes working as the Director of Product Management Fraud Risk at PhonePe, where he built the Machine Learning Platform for supporting multiple business use cases such as Fraud/Growth/Targeting. He also worked as a Product Manager Fraud Risk, leading the Fraud & Risk engineering, analytics, and operations team, and building the core products for fraud detection in real-time using data sciences, analytics, and rules targeting fraud, risk, and offer abuse.
