Anuj Gupta is a highly experienced executive with over 18 years of expertise in running end-to-end AI efforts at the CXO level. Currently, he is the Chief AI Officer at Vahan Inc (YC S’19), where he heads the AI function and leads two teams, one working on problems in NLP and Vision and the other working on understanding and analyzing user data. Anuj is also an accomplished author of a major book in AI, published by O'Reilly. The book offers a pragmatic view of how to do AI right when you are part of product teams rather than research labs and has been endorsed by AI leaders from UCSD, CMU, DeepMind, Google AI, Microsoft Research, Amazon research, Meta, Spotify, Airbnb, among others. The book has been translated into four languages and is being used by over 40 universities worldwide. During his career, Anuj has incubated and led multiple successful AI teams and efforts across startups, late-stage, and unicorn companies, as well as Fortune 50 companies. He has set up and owned AI functions end-to-end, from vision and strategy to roadmap, incubating and grooming high-performance AI teams, execution, and delivering KPIs at the CXO level. He has led AI teams of size 5-50 people spanning multiple geographies and has worked closely with founders and CXO peers from Business/Product/Engineering/Sales/HR driving KPIs at an organization level. Anuj is also advising and consulting with a bunch of organizations and startups, actively working with founders and CXOs directly, helping them get the AI piece right in their organization. He has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and a Master of Science (MS) in Mathematics and Computer Science from IIIT Hyderabad. Anuj's technical expertise includes AI, Research Scientist, ML, and NLP, and he has relevant experience of 17.36 years.
