Anurag Panwar, also known as Anu, is a Software Development Manager at Amazon Web Services. He is passionate about building and experimenting with new things, and he enjoys the mathematics behind complex predictive algorithms and models. Anu's personal motto is to learn by coding, whether it's math or a new programming language. In addition to software development, Anu is passionate about data mining, machine learning, computer vision, deep learning, data modeling, data warehousing, data visualization, data extraction, high-performance analytics, big data, natural language processing, and related research areas. He is proficient in Python, Java, C, C++, R, MATLAB, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, RUBY, JSP, ABAP, jQuery, Shell, and HTML5, and he is familiar with frameworks such as Spark (Spark SQL, Spark Streaming), Hadoop, Tensorflow, scikit-learn, numpy, scipy, Pig, and Spring. Anu has experience working with platforms such as Kafka and databases such as Redshift, Redis, MySQL, MongoDB, and PostGRESQL. He is also familiar with AWS EC2, RDS, EMR, AWS data pipelines, AWS ElasticCache, database design, and LATEX. Anu has over 6.95 years of relevant experience in the field and has worked with leading companies such as Amazon and Samsung. At Amazon, he manages a team of software engineers and owns five services inside AWS EBS. At Samsung, he worked as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer and was involved in natural language processing, machine learning, deep learning, speech processing, and automatic speech recognition for Samsung Bixby. Anu also built SPARK-based infrastructure to recommend location-based recommendations to Samsung Pay users and enhanced and operated the feature of push notifications for up to 4M Samsung Pay end-users. Anu holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, and two Master of Science (MS) degrees in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Rolla and the University of South Florida. He also completed a Leadership and Management program from the University of California, Berkeley.
