Aparna Ramakrishnan is an AR/VR Product Designer and UX Researcher currently working at NYU Future Reality Lab. With over 5 years of relevant experience in the field, Aparna has a proven track record of designing and developing user interfaces for a variety of platforms. At NYU Future Reality Lab, Aparna has developed the User Interface for the social VR environment that includes menus and widgets. Her work on the multi-user VR platform, "The Outpost", was showcased at the SIGGRAPH 2020 conference. The Outpost enables participants to come together virtually and engage in conversations. Prior to her current role, Aparna worked as a User Interface Designer and Developer at Indian Institute of Science. There, she developed an eye-gaze controlled head-up display for cars, which was patented with the French car interiors company Faurecia. She also developed an android application for switching media volume according to the number of faces detected. Aparna has also worked as a User Interface Designer at Accenture, where she designed and developed web applications for laptops, tablets, and mobiles. She created storyboards and personas for Microsoft Teams launch and received special recognition bonuses twice in 6 months. She also received a promotion within a year of joining and led the new members of the team into synchronization with the work. Aparna holds a Master of Science degree in Integrated Digital Media, Emerging Technology and Product Development from New York University and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from TKM College of Engineering, Kollam, Kerala, India. Aparna's tech stack includes designer, product designer, research scientist, Android, and web. With her diverse skill set and experience, Aparna is a valuable asset to any team she works with.
