Apratim Mishra is a graduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, specializing in Information Science. With academic training and professional experience, he has gained a strong understanding of Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Graph Analysis. He is interested in opportunities in ML/NLP and has a strong programming background in Python, Tensorflow, Pytorch, R, SQL, AWS, and Git. Currently working as an NLP Programmer at the Cline Center for Advanced Social Research, Apratim has developed Quotation extraction and text parsing algorithms to assist subject matter experts in evaluating large texts. He has examined questions on citations, paper, and content recommendations, using text and graph features for search, recommendation, and ranking. He has also studied language modeling and 'hype' in scientometric publications and analyzed language modeling tasks, specifically 'Stance Detection' as a text classification task with machine learning/deep learning models. Before his academic pursuits, Apratim worked as an Energy Data Analyst at Reliable Power Alternatives Corp. He developed data tools for analyzing energy costs, consumption patterns, and sustainability data along with conducting research towards energy commodities pricing and marketplace trends. Apratim holds a Doctorate in Information Sciences from the University of Illinois, a Master's degree in Energy and Environmental Policy from the University of Delaware, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from BITS Pilani. He completed his high school education from City Montessori School. He has a strong tech stack that includes NLP, ML, SQL, AWS, Text Classification, Python, Research Scientist, Tensorflow, Pytorch, Deep Learning, and Search. With 1.78 years of relevant experience, Apratim is a highly skilled and motivated individual who is passionate about solving complex problems using his skills in ML/NLP.
