Apurva Patkeshwar is a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer currently working at Twitter. With over 5 years of relevant experience, Apurva has a strong background in developing scalable applications and working with Machine Learning and Hadoop. He is currently working on the next-gen fully-managed ML Serving platform in Cortex, which will enable other teams to serve ML models at a high scale in production while ensuring performance, reliability, and ease of use. Prior to his current role, Apurva worked as a developer on the Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) team at Alexa, where he owned the platform that delivers the fastest, most reliable, and affordable service for audio processing and speech to text conversion. He also worked as a Software Engineer at Microsoft, where he had the rare and immensely valuable opportunity to move around different roles and businesses as a part of the MACH program. During his grad school at NYU, Apurva interned with Yahoo in the heart of Silicon Valley where he contributed to their Advertising Tech Platform. Apurva is proficient in Java and C# while maintaining a reasonable understanding of C++ and Python. With respect to web technologies, he is quite adept in HTML5/CSS3 and JavaScript along with frameworks like Angular and Bootstrap. Occasionally, he works with the PHP/MySQL stack as well. During all his experiences, Apurva has found himself attracted to the art and science of driving decisions by leveraging the power of data. The allure of a well-designed and data-driven AI has always enchanted him, and discussions related to machine learning capture him completely. He has been actively involved in taking leadership roles during his undergrad and was also the lead for the Education Committee during his stint at Microsoft, where he led and mentored a group of 35 people in various stages of event planning and management. As a graduate student, he worked as a Teaching Assistant at NYU for CS courses. Being a technology addict at heart, Apurva likes to keep up with the latest trends in the tech industry and discuss emerging trends in technology.
