Ariel Weisberg is a highly experienced Software Engineer with over 17 years of relevant experience in developing scalable, reliable, and consistently fast distributed systems and applications built on distributed systems. Currently working as a Software Engineer at Facebook, Ariel is responsible for working on Presto, a distributed SQL query engine designed for interactive analytics at scale. Prior to his current role, Ariel was an Apache Cassandra committer and PMC member at , where he contributed to the development of the distributed NoSQL database management system. Before that, he was the third engineer to start working on VoltDB when it was still incubating in Vertica, and they called it Horizontica. Ariel has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Brandeis University, where he studied from 2001 to 2005. He also attended Yeshiva University from 1999 to 2001, where he studied Computer Science. With his extensive experience and expertise in developing scalable, reliable, and fast distributed systems, Ariel is passionate about enabling other developers to be successful in selecting and using these systems through design, documentation, and implementation. Ariel's tech stack includes Software Engineering and Cassandra, and he is always looking for new challenges and opportunities to further his skills and knowledge in the field of distributed systems.
