Arik Waisman is a Senior Software Engineer at Spotify with over 9 years of relevant experience in building web applications, primarily in JavaScript. In his current role at Spotify, Arik is responsible for developing and maintaining software applications. Prior to Spotify, he worked at Peloton Interactive as a Software Engineer, where he implemented OAuth OIDC flow across all Peloton e-comm front ends leveraging Okta SDK to hide business secrets from the public and role-based authorization overall to allow testing across environments. He also built authorization check middleware into Kotlin Graphql Catalog API and Python monolith application leveraging incoming JWT through the use of JWKs to ensure only users with proper roles see trade secrets. Additionally, Arik added new components to the react app supporting mid-funnel ecommerce product pages and supported the roll-out of the Australian market. Before Peloton Interactive, Arik worked at IBM as a Software Engineer. He led development and iteration on IBM's web microservices and single-page applications primarily through the use of Typescript, JavaScript, Node, Express, GraphQL, Apollo, Vue, Vuex, Cassandra, CouchDB, Solr, and Jest. Arik conceptualized and implemented a new data model for IBM’s internal tool catalog API in migrating from CassandraDB to CouchDB. He also modeled, designed, developed, and deployed a new microservice to persist users’ settings across all internal domains for a consistent experience using Typescript/Node/Express/Cassandra. Arik instituted a structured pattern and standard for constructing Node APIs that will be used for all services moving forward. He participated and provided architectural direction for the new W3 internal application, which unified the UIs of ~20 separate teams into one in an effort to provide the most cohesive and consistent user experience. Arik holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from CUNY School of Professional Studies and has a background in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies from City University of New York-College of Staten Island.
