About
Arjun Vaidya is a D2C founder, investor, and mentor with a passion for Ayurveda. He is the founder of Dr. Vaidya's, India's largest Ayurveda brand online, which he successfully took to acquisition. He now leads venture investing for Verlinvest through a new fund called V3 Ventures. Arjun is a sixth-generation Vaidya, and Ayurveda is in his blood. He grew up with asthma and was cured after 14 years of treatment. This experience made him a believer in the potential of Ayurveda, and he promised his grandfather that he would take forward this legacy. Arjun received his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Affairs and Economics from Brown University in 2013. While at Brown, he witnessed the natural and organic products revolution and saw yoga become a multibillion-dollar industry with a repackaged identity for modern consumers. This made him think about the opportunity they had with Ayurveda. In 2013, Arjun moved back to India and joined a consumer sector-focused growth private equity fund called L Catterton, where he spent time understanding and investing in the Indian consumer story. In October 2016, he quit his job to take on his family's Ayurveda legacy and founded Dr. Vaidya's. Under Arjun's leadership, Dr. Vaidya's repackaged the ancient Indian science of Ayurveda for modern consumers and emerged as India's largest Ayurveda brand online. The brand successfully reached 2m+ consumers across 16,500+ pin codes in India and launched 80+ products, clocking 5,000+ orders per day. Arjun was the first Ayurvedic Entrepreneur to be featured in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia List and Business World 40 Under 40 List. In June 2019, Dr. Vaidya's partnered with the USD 4b RP Sanjiv Goenka Group and led the business to an acquisition by the group, making it one of India's first successful D2C exits. Post the exit, Arjun became an active early-stage investor through V3 Ventures and as an angel. Outside of work, Arjun is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper and a part of Brown University's Young Alumni Advisory Council. He also runs a podcast called Direct to a Billion Consumers on navigating India's complex and exciting FMCG ecosystem.
