Arovit Narula is a Senior Software Developer with over 11 years of experience in the industry. He is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Niantic, where he is responsible for developing the backend for a real-world location-based mobile game called Ingress. He is currently working on platform services that power the social graph for Niantic games. Prior to Niantic, Arovit worked at Amazon as an SDE II, where he was a member of the AWS Elastic Map Reduce team. He developed and implemented scalable strategies for GDPR compliance of EMR logs on S3 and also spent time designing the Hadoop3 offering in the next generation of EMR releases. While at AWS, he made contributions to the Jupyter Open Source and worked on items that kept the lights on for EMR Customers. Before Amazon, Arovit worked at Synopsys as a Senior R&D Engineer II. Here, he designed and developed a scheduling mechanism based on a grid computing engine for Synopsys Emulation servers (Zebu). He also worked on automating infrastructural components for ZeBu and developed several command-line tools for developers to launch Emulation jobs efficiently. He prototyped CPU and mem-based scheduling of sub-compilation processes for Emulation. Arovit has a Master's degree in Software Engineering from PSG College of Technology, where he graduated in 2011. He also completed his Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering from the same institution in 2006. Prior to that, he completed his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya in 2002.
