Arpit is a highly skilled Computer Scientist with extensive experience in research and development. He is currently working as a Staff Data Scientist in the Emerging Technologies team at Walmart Global Tech, where he is responsible for the research and development of Natural Language Understanding (NLU) capabilities in Walmart eCommerce virtual assistant development platform. Arpit graduated with a doctoral degree in Computer Science from Arizona State University in 2019, where he specialized in Natural Language Understanding, Commonsense Reasoning, Commonsense Knowledge Extraction, and Automated Question Answering. With almost five years of relevant experience, Arpit has a strong background in research and teaching. He worked as a Teaching Instructor and Teaching Assistant for various courses, including Introduction to Theoretical Computer Science, Logic for Computer Scientists, Advanced Object-Oriented Programming (Java) and Data Structures, and Introduction to Engineering. He also worked as a Research Assistant and project lead in BioAI lab at ASU between 2013 and 2019. Arpit has a Master's degree in Computer Science from Arizona State University, where he worked in the field of Natural Language Understanding, specifically on the topic of hard Co-reference resolution and Semantic Parsing. His thesis is titled, "Solving Winograd Schema Challenge: Using Semantic Parsing, Automatic Knowledge Acquisition, and Logical Reasoning." Prior to that, he worked as an Application Support Engineer Intern at The Mathworks Inc. from May 2013 to August 2013 at the Natick, MA, USA headquarters. Arpit has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with honors from the College of Engineering in India. He also holds a Senior Secondary School diploma in Science from S.F.D.A.V Public School. Arpit's tech stack includes Research Scientist, Data Scientist, Java, Spring Boot, Spring, SQL, NLU, Software Engineer, Cassandra, Kafka, Spark, Ansible, Hadoop, Apache storm, and Backend.
