Artem Avdacev is a Co-Founder at SBX Robotics, where he is focused on building simulation environments for intelligent industrial robots to teach them how to reason about the real world. He is currently hiring technical artists to train vision AI for robots. Artem is an expert in artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and supervised learning. Before his current role, Artem led a team of 25 people at Yelp, where he built machine learning pipelines to detect fraud, spam, and abuse online. He has also worked as a Startup Lead Mentor at Techstars, where he mentored promising startups through Montreal's Techstars AI program. As an independent consultant, Artem has expertise in building human-in-the-loop machine learning (AI) systems, preventing fraud and abuse in online platforms, and sustainably scaling engineering teams. He can help teams with spam, fake accounts, reputation systems, payment fraud, framing ML problems & objective functions, ML vs. heuristics complexity tradeoffs, gathering labeled data for supervised learning, training analysts & labelers, introspection UIs for models, data pipelines & storage patterns for ML systems, model re-training flows, and hiring/interviewing PMs, Data Scientists, and ML engineers. Artem holds a Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering (with distinction) from the University of Waterloo. He also completed the AI Stream 2020 program at Creative Destruction Lab and the W21 program at Y Combinator. Artem is passionate about AI and robotics and is committed to building intelligent machines that can solve complex problems. He has 11.78 years of relevant experience and is always looking for new opportunities to apply his expertise in AI and machine learning.
