Arthur Lei is a highly experienced consultant at bepress, a leading provider of research and publishing solutions for academic institutions. With almost 8 years of relevant experience, Arthur has provided detailed technical assistance and advice to institutional repository administrators from varied institution types such as large public research institutions or small liberal arts colleges so they could achieve institutional goals of promoting student work and research online on an international scale. He has also mentored three colleagues in use of CSS/HTML taking them from beginners to experts as well as serving as a member of the internal CSS/HTML expert group. Arthur has led a small and diverse team to develop original product feature proposals to facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange between client institutions. He co-organized an internal "bootcamp" for CSS/HTML attended by 80-90% of colleagues in the consulting services division. He has also led training sessions for new hires to familiarize them with the firm's products so they could contribute to the firm's objectives. Prior to his work at bepress, Arthur worked as a freelance editor/translator and web manager for the Italian Society at Berkeley, where he maintained and updated the organization’s website via its content management systems (Drupal and then WordPress) and assisted with maintaining the organization’s massive mailing lists. He created and managed social media accounts (for example, @ItaSocBerkeley on Twitter) in order to increase organization visibility and event attendance. He grew the Facebook following from a mere 100 to over 1100 within in the span of two years. He used data analytics (bit.ly and Google Analytics) to guide and inform marketing and outreach on social media. He managed a mailing list of over 800 subscribers and carried out complicated migration from one email server to another. Arthur is a Ph.D. candidate in Italian Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. He also has a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Italian Studies from the same institution and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mathematics and Italian Studies from Duke University. He has also completed a Full Stack Web Development program from Lambda School. Arthur's tech stack includes web and research scientist technologies. He is an expert in CSS/HTML, content management systems, and social media marketing.
