Arun Singla is an experienced Director of Engineering with over 19 years of diverse experience in building scalable products and teams across various domains. He is currently working at Compass, where he leads the engineering team. Arun is an agile practitioner with a strong focus on customer, business value, empowerment for teams, and efficiency. He has a solid technical background in Cloud, Micro-services, Big data, and JEE. Arun has a mindset of servant leadership and has proven experience in leading large and geographically distributed teams and also building teams from scratch. In his previous role as Director of Engineering at UnitedHealth, Arun modernized the claim processing legacy application to cloud-native open source, Java tech stack. He transformed the monolithic system into a micro-services-based platform to operate across different businesses, consuming supply as service. Arun partnered closely with business to establish a multi-quarter technical and product roadmap, innovate and evolve product capability to enhance customer needs and data accuracy and consistency. He led around 55 engineers to innovate and implement claims business processes, along with the delivery of various software projects amounting to a 10+ million dollar annual budget. Arun has also worked as an Engineering Manager at Expedia, where he led various growth initiatives to bring traffic for new products and partnered with various teams within Expedia, reusing various components. He built a business case and created a unique supplier agnostic Rail supply pad, which is now used across the board as a single supply connectivity by different brands within Expedia. Arun has led a global team (developers, testers, program managers, system administrators, devops engineers, vendors) for the Cars Engineering Team. Arun holds a Master of Technology degree in Software Systems from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science. He has a strong technical background in Senior Software Engineering, Microservices, Big Data, Java, DevOps, and Ruby. With almost 24 years of relevant experience, Arun is a highly skilled and experienced engineering leader who has a proven track record of delivering successful products and building strong teams.
