Arunava Kar is a Staff Software Engineer at Amagi Corporation with over 5 years of relevant experience in the Broadcast Media Industry. He possesses a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Computer Science from VIT University, Vellore. Arunava is skilled in AWS, GCP, Dockers, k8s, Python, Flask, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, C, C++, and Node JS. Currently, Arunava is leading the efforts of building the Compass Gateway Service at Amagi. He is responsible for the authentication, authorization, and forwarding of requests to the Compass API Server (CAS). Additionally, he provides functionalities for management of accounts, users, and quotas, besides the native functionalities of API Gateway (Kong G/W in this case). Arunava has also worked on several other projects at Amagi, including architecting, designing, and implementing platform as well as application requirements in AmagiNOW. He has also developed and launched CLOUDPORTXpress on AWS, which is a cloud-based channel playout platform that enables both broadcast TV and streaming TV networks to launch and manage broadcast-grade linear channels on a 'Pay-as-you-go' model. Arunava's past experiences include working as a Senior Software Engineer (Platforms, Streaming TV) and Software Engineer (Core and Workflow, Cloudport) at Amagi. He has designed and developed several core features, including AFD (Active Format Descriptor), VCHIP, and Default Playlist for US-based customers. He has also worked on the customization requests for various features like Playlist Ingest, Meta Ingest, Bumper Based SCTE ON-OFF, Auto-Scheduling of Graphics, Media Processor for Customers across the Globe. Arunava has also contributed to the core Product Karma, which reads from the Device Logs and builds a Consolidated Report at the end of the Broadcast Day in Multiple Formats which are being used by the Clients to monitor the discrepancies between what was scheduled to play and what actually played on air.
