Arunkumar Bhat is a Principal Engineer at Western Digital with over 15 years of experience in the storage domain. He is currently working on SAS Expander and has expertise in SSD firmware development. Arunkumar is an expert in C, C++, and Python and has good knowledge of protocols like NVM Express and PCI Express. Arunkumar has worked as part of the front-end development team, data center firmware, and enterprise firmware team, responsible for NVMe based HIL firmware design and development. He was also responsible for FPGA-based IP Bring up during the initial phase. Arunkumar has developed firmware on a multi-core environment with ARM SoC, which contains many subsystems like System Manager, Scheduler, State Manager, NVMe Protocol Library, HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer), Interrupt Manager, Dump Manager, Reset Handler, Namespace Manager, Virtualization Manager, MCU, and more. Prior to joining Western Digital, Arunkumar worked at Samsung as a Senior Staff Engineer and Technical Lead, where he was part of the ImT/RIP subsystem (SS). ImT subsystem is responsible for image-related operation and involves Scan job, copy job, fax job, and others. His role and responsibilities included designing, developing, and maintaining ImT (Image Translator) and Raster Image Processing (RIP) subsystems, developing job manager, job scheduler, and various job flows design, debugging issues related to ImT (Image Translator) and system framework, and documentation (SRS, HLD, and DLD) of the module being developed. Arunkumar holds a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics and Communications from RNS Institute of Technology, Bangalore, and has also completed a course in Real-Time Embedded System Design from Cranes Varsity, Bangalore. Arunkumar's tech stack includes Frontend, Python, Mobile, Senior Software Engineer, Image Processing, and test.
