Arvin Aminpour is a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer currently working at Instagram as a Senior Software Engineer. With almost 8 years of relevant experience, Arvin has worked on various projects at Instagram and Facebook, including Shops, Explore, and Protect and Support. As the tech lead of the Creator Shops team, Arvin has built out infrastructure to allow creators to integrate their offsite (Shopify and third-party) shops to sell directly to their fans. He also led the integration of ads to the Instagram Explore surface and proposed and pushed for the transition to a flick-style interaction, which raised impressions and ad revenue significantly. Additionally, Arvin has worked on the Protect and Support team building features to protect the community, including two-factor authentication, gating for IG content, and time spent tracking for users. Before joining Instagram, Arvin worked at Facebook as a Software Engineering Intern, where he worked on the Search Team on multiple projects, including Phrase (double quote) Search. He also worked at Microsoft as an SDE Intern, where he worked on suggested/related articles for MSN News using Collaborative Filtering and in-house ML tools. Arvin holds a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering from the University of Waterloo, which he completed in 2015. He is highly skilled in Objective-C, Python, Pytorch, Golang, Swift, and NLP, among other tech stacks. Arvin is a Full Stack Engineer at Instagram/Facebook on Shops, and he plays around with Golang, Swift, and Pytorch on the side.
