Arvind Ramesh
Embedded Software Engineer - Microsoft Azure Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering
About
Arvind Ramesh is an experienced Embedded Software Engineer currently working at Microsoft Azure Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering. He is responsible for delivering systems that will power Microsoft's next-generation cloud hardware. Before joining Microsoft, Arvind worked at Intel in the Non-Volatile Storage Group on enterprise-class NAND SSD FW. He solved problems in areas ranging from validation and automation infrastructure to scaling the IO fast path performance of the SSD FW on a multi-threaded SMP architecture. Arvind has developed interests and expertise spanning across different areas in the product development cycle ranging from rapid prototyping and board bring up using SoCs to developing hw/sw co-design solutions running on heterogeneous architectures to deploying CI/CD automation infrastructure. He possesses a holistic view of the development process and is equipped with all the tools necessary to architect an end-to-end solution. Arvind received his Master’s degree in Embedded Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. He has 9.53 years of relevant experience and has worked with technologies such as Software Engineering, Infra, Azure, CI/CD, Senior Software Engineering, Jenkins, SDET, and Test. Arvind's past experience includes working as a Senior Embedded Software Developer at Intel, where he was involved in scaling the performance of the IO fast path on Intel’s next-generation Enterprise NAND SSD to achieve the target IOPS. He engineered an end-to-end performance monitoring tool capable of collecting key data metrics from the SSD while running IO workloads and visualizing it on a live dashboard. He also developed critical components of a multi-threaded X86 based SSD simulator to emulate the NVMe interface and the HAL layer, which led to accelerated firmware development and debug cycles. Arvind's education history includes a Master of Science (M.S.) in Engineering in Embedded Systems from the University of Pennsylvania. He has also worked with key skills such as NVMe, ARM v8, Multicore SMP Architecture, Multithreaded Applications, User Mode Driver - SPDK, Pytest, and Jenkins.
