Aseed Usmani is a software engineer with over 4 years of relevant experience in building scalable backends. He is currently working as a Software Development Engineer 2 at Atlassian, where he is responsible for developing and maintaining their software products. Aseed is a problem solver, who loves building things from scratch and is obsessed with maintaining code standards. Aseed has expertise in Java, Python, MySQL, Kafka, HDFS, Spark, designing REST APIs with Flask and Dropwizard, Jenkins and Linux debian lifecycle for CICD, shell scripting, and maintaining and enforcing good SDLC practices. He has mentored 4 interns, all of whom received PPOs, which is a testament to his leadership skills. Previously, Aseed worked at Flipkart as a Software Development Engineer 2, where he was responsible for building the Flipkart Commerce Cloud. He built Catalog service REST API and Data Ingestion pipeline, to manage Catalogs of their e-commerce clients using Java backend, with MySQL and Spark for ingestion. He also mentored 3 SDE1s on their projects, helping them with project requirement understanding, solution approaches, and code review. Additionally, he led 3 interns on their projects. Before that, Aseed worked at Flipkart as a Software Development Engineer 1. He built REST API micro-services from scratch, as and when required, independently driving contract closure, development, testing, and productionization. He also built ingestion systems (real-time and batch) to ingest client data. Furthermore, he did a PoC, built user-flows, and handled the deployment of an authentication system using Keycloak (open-source). Aseed holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree from Jamia Millia Islamia, where he studied from 2014 to 2018.
