Ash Tan is an ambitious software engineer with a passion for learning and building. With over 2 years of relevant experience, Ash has expertise in full-stack web development, machine learning, and cross-platform development. Currently working as a Software Engineer at ShareThis, Ash has previously worked as a Software Engineer at Atomic47 Labs and Hyperbridge. At Atomic47 Labs, Ash led the front-end and back-end development of a new networking application. Ash designed and developed key features including chat and real-time notifications and reduced server load by augmenting the notification service to eliminate periodic polling. Ash utilized React.js, Redux, Node.js, Express, MongoDB, Typescript, and Chai in the tech stack. At Hyperbridge, Ash decreased spam Telegram messages by 90% by creating a Node.js Telegram bot. Ash also integrated distributed file storage (IPFS) into the web platform for decentralized product uploads and wrapped the web client in Electron for Windows and Mac applications. Ash wrote an Ethereum smart contract that released rewards for public bug fix suggestions and tested smart contracts to cover edge cases which exposes contract flaws and potential lock up of funds. Ash utilized Node.js, Javascript, Solidity, Truffle (Mocha & Chai variant), and IPFS in the tech stack. Ash's education includes a Bachelor of Applied Science - BASc in Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia Electrical and Computer Engineering, which he completed in 2021.
