Asha Rostamianfar is a highly experienced Director of Software and Data Engineering at Deep Genomics, a leading biotech company. With 8.78 years of relevant experience, Asha has a proven track record of growing and leading some of the best engineering teams in the industry. Prior to joining Deep Genomics, Asha worked as a Software Engineer at Color, where she was the technical lead of the bioinformatics pipeline infrastructure and systems. She proposed, designed, and implemented a new distributed bioinformatics pipeline system using Toil and CWL, which was used extensively by engineers and data scientists throughout the company. She also worked on implementing in-house proprietary bioinformatics algorithms and provided technical guidance for the team. During her time at Color, Asha made several open source contributions to Toil to improve reliability, monitoring, flexibility, and performance. Before joining Color, Asha worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Google, where she was the tech lead and manager on the Google Cloud Healthcare & Life Sciences team. She focused on biomedical/genomics products such as Variant Transforms and provided cloud infrastructure for Google's Brain Genomics team. Asha holds an MSc in Computer Science with a focus on Computational Biology from the University of Toronto and a BSE in Computer Software Engineering from the University of Waterloo. She also attended Thornhill Secondary School. Asha's tech stack includes Data Engineering, Software Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, infra, and GCP. As the Director of Software and Data Engineering at Deep Genomics, Asha is responsible for growing one of the best engineering teams in the biotech industry.
