Ashish Ranjan is a Civil Engineering undergraduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. His areas of interest are Transportation Engineering and Structural Engineering. He has previously worked on the 'Stabilization of High Rise buildings using Liquid Dampeners' under the guidance of Prof. S.K. Bhattacharyya, Deputy Director, IIT Kharagpur. He has a deep interest in the simulation part of Transportation Engineering. Ashish is also interested in Data Structures & Algorithms, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence. Currently, Ashish is a Summer Research Intern at the University of Edinburgh, UK. Here, he is investigating an innovative concrete-filled-stainless-steel tubular structure with expansive additive. He has also developed a calculation template for structural capacity of a reinforced concrete structure in Uganda. He has made use of numerical models and advanced design methods for the indeterminate structure to develop the calculation template. He has explored the different design methods and made use of the EURO codes to obtain the design strengths. Previously, Ashish has worked as a Verified Educator at Unacademy, where he created various courses on the platform, some of which are Transportation Engineering, and Structural Analysis. He has also worked as a Summer Intern at BSEIDC Ltd., where he interned in Construction Project Management & On-site Project Execution. He visited construction sites, assisted the site engineer, and supervised the on-site work processes taking place. He analyzed the reinforcements in the various building components of RCC structures like foundations, columns, plinth-band, beams, and roofs, including their casting. He evaluated the economics and feasibility of buildings and prepared the bill of quantities, abstracts of bills, and tender documents. Ashish has a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Civil Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. He completed his Class 11-12 from Delhi Public School and his Class 2-10 from St. Francis School, Deoghar. Ashish is a Research Scientist and has relevant experience of 4.78 years.
