Ashish Thapliyal is a Senior Director of Product Management at Salesforce Genie, with over 18 years of relevant experience in building and growing enterprise-focused businesses. He is a product management leader who is passionate about creating value innovation for non-organic revenue, usage, and customer growth. With a strong leadership track record, he has delivered strategies and driven execution to grow products, and has domain expertise in Open Source Big Data Analytics, Apache Spark, Hive, HBase, Kafka, Mapreduce, Cloud Services, Driving ISV Ecosystem, Developer Evangelism, Customer Growth, Enterprise Architecture, and Public Speaking. Currently, he is building the next generation hyper-scale data and ML platform at Salesforce. Prior to this, Ashish was a Principal Product Manager at Microsoft, where he defined the HDInsight product strategy and roadmap based on customer feedback, telemetry, and market trends. He worked closely with Engineering, Marketing & Field to deliver product/features, drove product launches, customer growth, and executed plans to exceed Long Range Planning (LRP). He also enabled customers, partners, field, and community with the product. Ashish has delivered public talks at various conferences, including Dataworks Conference Berlin (Hadoop Summit), Microsoft BUILD, Microsoft Ignite, and Microsoft Open Conference. Before his role as Principal Product Manager, Ashish was a Senior Product Manager for the Azure HDInsight (Spark and Hadoop as a cloud service) at Microsoft. He was responsible for HDInsight workloads such as Hive, Interactive Hive, Map Reduce, Pig, Oozie, Sqoop, HBase, Phoenix, and Platform monitoring. He drove the vision and strategy of the Open Source Big Data products in Azure, understood customer requirements, and owned the product roadmap. He worked with customers daily, helping them build successful Big Data applications in the cloud, and educated internal/external communities on Big Data architectures and best practices in the cloud. Ashish holds a Master of Computer Applications degree in Computer Science from SGRRITS. His tech stack includes product management, Salesforce, Big Data, Spark, ML, Kafka, Azure, Hadoop, MapReduce, Apache Hive, and ETL.
