Ashvat Bansal is a DevOps Engineer with over 2 years of experience in the field. He is a recent graduate (with honors) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he earned a BS in Aerospace Engineering and a Minor in Computer Science. Ashvat is a highly motivated individual who has been mentioned in the Dean's List in Spring 2018, Spring 2020 and Fall 2020. He was also part of the James Scholar program at the University, graduating with a GPA of 3.7. Currently, Ashvat works as a DevOps Engineer at a consulting service company, where he handles operations, maintenance, and support for AWS Cloud resources. He has experience in launching, maintaining, and troubleshooting EC2 instances, S3 buckets, VPC, Elastic Load Balancers (ELB), and Auto Scaling. Ashvat has also migrated 30+ projects and repositories from Gitlab on-prem to Gitlab SaaS version. He has developed .gitlab-ci.yml scripts from scratch for all pipelines on various codebases (front-end, backend, Chromecast, etc.) and migrated all build and deploy pipelines from Jenkins to Gitlab CI/CD pipelines. Ashvat has actively been involved in setting up and maintaining the CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins, Gitlab CI/CD, Docker, Git, AWS CLI, EB CLI to build and deploy applications to machines running in AWS Environments. He has created Docker images from scratch to be utilized in the pipelines to allow the pipelines to build and deploy NodeJS and Ruby codebase to S3 and Elastic Beanstalk. Ashvat has utilized AWS CloudWatch to monitor the performance environment instances for operational and performance metrics, while using New Relic and Grafana for metrics monitoring for the application. Ashvat has also proposed and implemented different branching strategies for Git (ex. GitFlow, GitHub flow, trunk based) to enable ease of development for teams. He has built, configured, and supported application environments while creating custom shell and python scripts for various automation purposes. Ashvat has used SonarQube for static analysis and code quality and managed the On-call schedule for VictorOps Splunk for monitoring of production environments for any problems. He has updated the SSL certificates using AWS Certificate Manager for web servers on Elastic Beanstalk and configured systems using AWS Systems Manager.
