Atharva Deshpande is a Senior Software Engineer at Cisco, currently working in the Cloud and Network Security organization with the System Configuration and REST API team. He has over 5 years of experience in the software and network security industry, and he is well-versed in the software delivery life cycle process, from planning features to execution, testing cycles, and release. Atharva is responsible for owning and leading the software delivery of Identity & Access Management, Network Configuration Management, REST API Framework, and Cloud Services Integration in Cisco's Next-Generation Firewall. He is passionate about Cybersecurity, Software Defined Networking, Data Structures and Algorithms, Cloud Computing, and IoT. Atharva holds a Masters in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Pune, India. He has a wide range of technical skills, including programming languages such as Python, Perl, Java, Go, React, and JavaScript, database management systems like MySQL and DynamoDB, and protocols such as Oauth2, SAML, and MFA. He is also proficient in software and platforms such as GoLand, PyCharm, Eclipse, MySQL Workbench, Wireshark, AWS (EC2, S3, CloudWatch), and Linux. Atharva has previously worked with Cisco as a Product Owner and a Software Engineer III - Next Generation Firewall / Scrum Master. In his role as a Product Owner, he led the System Configuration and REST API team in Cloud and Network Security unit focused on the software delivery of Identity & Access Management, Network Configuration Management, REST API Framework, and Cloud Services Integration. He also led the feature delivery for One-Click SecureX Integration, improving the integration experience for customers, eliminating previous pain points, and increasing the feature and new release adoption of the product. In his previous role as a Software Engineer III - Next Generation Firewall / Scrum Master, Atharva worked with the team to develop SecureX Integration feature to integrate Firewall product with Cisco’s cloud-native platform experience using OAuth2 Device Authorization protocol (React, Perl, and Go). He also collaborated with cross-functional teams to containerize Cloud version of Cisco's Firepower Management Center. Atharva is a skilled software engineer with a diverse technical background and a passion for developing next-generation technologies that change the way people interact with information and each other.
