Atul Dhingra is an accomplished Engineering Manager with expertise in Machine Learning and Computer Vision. He is currently working as a Perception Engineer at NIO, where he has played a key role in the development of the L4 compute platform for the vehicle. Atul has extensive experience in Deep Neural Network algorithm development, compression, and acceleration, enabling models to run up to 5x faster on the target embedded platforms. Previously, Atul worked as a Machine Learning Engineer for six years, focusing on advanced Machine Learning algorithms and Deep Learning. He has theoretical and hands-on experience in Deep Learning using caffe, tensorflow, and keras. Atul is particularly interested in Computer Vision, Scene Understanding, DNN Algorithm Development, Compression, and Optimization, and Biometrics. Atul is also a Treasurer and Core Team Member of Rotaract Club, where he manages the club's finances and volunteers in various events such as Joy of Giving Week and Collection drives. Atul's past experience includes a Summer Internship at Technophilia, where he manually programmed an 8-bit AVR microcontroller and programmed codes for lighting LEDs and configuring sensors with the microcontroller. He also worked as a Visiting Researcher at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, where he studied various aspects of Eye Tracking, Speaker Recognition, Gait Recognition, and Iris-based authentication. Atul formulated and published a robust speaker verification algorithm invariant to noise and multi-channel input, studied dynamics and speed-invariance in gait-based authentication using frame by frame analysis and optical flow, and developed and published a novel method for error analysis for eye movement tracking for biometrics. He independently collected a database of human irises from 50 users (1000 images) in a period of one month and recommended a better iris capture device that replaced the old hardware at Biometrics Lab. Atul holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from Rutgers University-New Brunswick and a Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation and Control from NSIT.
