Atul Kabra is a Full-Time Learner and Part-Time Software "Somebody" with over 20 years of relevant experience in software engineering, design, and development on a variety of technologies. He specializes in Windows Device Drivers, Windows internals, CPU virtualization, Storage Virtualization, File Systems, I/O stack, Information Storage and Management, Anti Malware solutions, and Cyber Security Architecture. Currently, Atul works as a Principal Architect at FireEye, where he was one of the first engineers to pilot the company's endpoint security offerings, which was eventually combined with Mandiant agent post the acquisition. His job description spans hands-on programming, setting up DevOps, evaluating technologies, hiring and mentoring team members, technical liaisoning within various R&D groups in FireEye worldwide, assisting the pre-sales/marketing teams, and pitching new ideas to executive staff. Atul's key contributions at FireEye include building 'Exploit Guard,' FireEye's first endpoint detection software for detecting zero-day attacks, owning the kernel modules for the endpoint software stack, contributing to the IR software and services, focusing on forward-looking technology and solutions, and contributing to building CPU virtualization-based endpoint security software (patent filed) that included a special-purpose hypervisor. Before joining FireEye, Atul worked as a Software Architect at the same company, where he made similar contributions to the company's endpoint security offerings. Atul holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi, a Bachelor's degree from St. Stephen's College, Delhi, and a degree in Law from the National Law School of India University. He also attended XLRI Jamshedpur for a short period. Atul's tech stack includes Senior Software Engineer and DevOps.
