Aveena Kottwani is a Software Engineer at Twitch with a passion for using technology to solve complex business problems. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Data Science at Stony Brook University and is actively seeking full-time opportunities starting January 2021. Aveena has over three years of experience as a Backend Engineer for Middle Office applications at Nomura Investment Bank. Her work involved building company-wide web applications and creating web services for existing data feeds for Settlement and Corporate Action teams. She proactively used Object Oriented Design concepts, Artificial Intelligence, Web-services, and Data Structure & Algorithm to optimize the existing workflows. She enjoys analyzing and solving business problems and implementing end-to-end solutions for large-scale applications, which motivated her to pursue a Masters in Computer Science. Aveena's skillset includes Java, Python, C++, C, and Matlab. She is also proficient in technologies/frameworks such as Tensorflow, Pytorch, Apache Spark, AngularJS, Node.js, Spring MVC, Kubernetes, and Docker. She hopes to learn Big Data technologies, Machine Learning, and Cloud Computing to architect solutions for large-scale systems and data. In addition to her current role at Twitch, Aveena has previously worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Juniper Networks, where she was responsible for creating key performance indicator metrics for microservices and Spark jobs for monitoring. She also created automated monitoring and alerting for infrastructure components in SignalFx, Prometheus, Grafana, and created various scripts and tools for Spark Infrastructure. At Stony Brook University, she worked as a Teaching Assistant for CSE 214 Data Structures, where she created assignments for applications of data structures and object-oriented design methodology and taught basic and advanced data structures to a batch of 70 students. Aveena holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from Stony Brook University and a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from Bhartiya Vidya Bhavans.
