Avinash Gopalabhatla is a highly motivated and skilled Aerospace Engineer currently working as a Trainee at KPIT Technologies Limited. With a keen interest in the R&D of the Automotive Industry, Avinash has gained valuable experience in his current role, working on various projects related to electric vehicles and transmission systems. During his time as a Summer Intern at KPIT, Avinash designed a Gear-Shift Strategy for a Two-Speed Transmission and analyzed its benefits by modeling and implementing it on an EV Nissan LEAF. He also modeled the Longitudinal Vehicle Dynamics of the Nissan LEAF in Simulink and validated the model with the performance of the actual vehicle. Avinash optimized the two-speed gear ratios and shifting schedule using the Pattern Search function from Global Optimization Toolbox, resulting in an improvement of about 4% in all performance metrics like Energy Consumption, Range, Maximum Speed, and Acceleration Time. Avinash's experience extends beyond the automotive industry, having completed his thesis on Co-operative Target Tracking using Unmanned Vehicles at the Aerospace Department of IIT Kharagpur. During this time, he developed a novel control algorithm to achieve Formation Flight between UAVs in both 2D and 3D scenarios. He also guided the formation to perform circular path convergence around a stationary and moving target and designed a 3D obstacle avoidance algorithm inspired by 3D flow over a sphere. Avinash holds an Integrated Course (BTech +MTech) degree in Aerospace Engineering from IIT, which he completed in 2021. He has a strong technical skill set, including expertise in Search, and has gained 1.86 years of relevant experience in his field.
